The Shortest Day of the Year
Today, December 21st, is called the winter solstice! What is that? The winter solstice, or also called Yule, Midwinter, the Shortest Day of the Year and the Longest Night, is when the Northern Hemisphere experiences very little sunlight! It is predicted that the sun will not rise until 7:47 am and it will set at 4:43 pm!
There are a lot of hard words in the paragraph above! I hope this helps you understand:
Hemisphere - a half of the earth, usually as divided into northern and southern halves by the equator, or into western and eastern halves by an imaginary line passing through the poles.
predicted - an estimate of something that may happen or the consequence of something that has or will happened.
rise - in this context it means to move from a lower position to a higher one!
How do you celebrate the winter solstice?
